Tadiran launches high temperature, rechargeable Li-ion cells

By dkirsh | June 18, 2019

Tadiran-TLI-1550HT-rechargeable-Lithium-ion-cellsTadiran Batteries recently launched its TLI-1550HT rechargeable Lithium-ion batteries for medical applications.

The batteries are designed to be used in autoclave sterilization cycles at temperatures up to 125ºC, according to the company. They can be used in surgical saws, drills, reamers, staplers, shavers and wire/pin drivers.

The maintenance-free TLI-1550 HT batteries are cylindrical cells with high capacity, high energy density and high power density. The small size allows handheld medical devices to be more compact and ergonomic to reduce operator fatigue. They feature a limited temperature range of 0º to 60ºC and deliver stable and reliable performance at elevated temperatures. TLI-1550HT batteries also feature glass-to-metal seals.

Laboratory tests of the battery have shown that it is able to deliver highly stable OCV after 100 sterilization cycles at 125ºC with a modest reduction in discharge capacity and pulse voltage.
